🎯 Goal
Find, create, edit, and cancel society events, the socials, tournaments, AGMs and industry meetups that keep the society network running.
❓ Why
Societies run on relationships, and events are where those relationships get built. The events calendar is the one place to see what's coming up, track who's attending, and manage any events you or your firm are hosting.
🔍 Overview
Access the events calendar from your Society Dashboard. From there you can browse upcoming events and if you or your firm are hosting, create new events and circulate invitations to society members.
📊 Step-by-step
Browse events
From your society, open Events (calendar view or list).
Click into an event to see host firm, date, venue and description
Create and circulate a new event
From Events, click Create Event.
Fill in event title, date/time, venue, description, and any attendee cap or dress code.
Select the society(s) to circulate to.
Edit the mailer copy - subject and body - and send.
Edit an existing event
Open the event → Edit. You can update any detail - date, venue, description. If date or venue changes materially, consider recirculating to inform members.
Cancel an event
Open the event → Cancel. Kato sends a cancellation notice to everyone who's RSVP'd and removes the event from the calendar.
✅ You've done it when…
Whether attending or hosting, your event details are correct and any changes are communicated to attendees.
💡 Common mistakes & pro tips
Circulate hosted events 3–4 weeks out. Members' diaries fill - give them time.
Cancelling well is a skill. If you have to cancel, explain why in the cancellation note - members appreciate the transparency.
