How to publish a disposal to society

Written by Max Kemplen

🎯 Goal

Circulate a disposal to your society so every member sees the listing, agents can send match requests against it, and tenant reps can pull it into their applicant reports.

❓ Why

Society publishing is the most direct way to put a listing in front of the firms most likely to move it. It's a few clicks to reach every member, and every published disposal becomes available for tenant reps to add to applicant availability schedules, driving qualified inbound interest back to you.

🔍 Overview

Publish from the disposal's Management tab. You'll choose which society/societies to circulate to, customise the mailer message, and schedule or send immediately. Listings can be recirculated once per fortnight.

📊 Required fields before publishing

Societies require these to be complete before you can circulate:

  1. Property Type

  2. Summary (on the Marketing tab)

  3. Key Points

  4. Landlord Details (can be marked confidential if needed)

  5. Lease Type

  6. Rent Qualifier

  7. Service Charge & Rates

📊 Step-by-step

1. Open the disposal's Marketing tab

From Disposals, open the property, then click the Marketing tab.

2. Check you meet the required fields

If any of the seven fields above are missing, Kato will prompt you. Fill them in before continuing.

3. Choose which societies to publish to

Select one or more societies your firm is a member of (RLAS / OAS / IAS / WEAS / CAS).

4. Customise the mailer

Kato pre-fills a default mailer message from the listing — tailor the tone of voice, add a personal note, and check the inclusion/exclusion of members you want (or don't want) to be notified directly.

5. Circulate now or schedule for later

Click Circulate Now to push the listing immediately, or schedule a later send for timing (e.g. Tuesday 9am is a common high-engagement slot).

✅ You've done it when…

The disposal appears in the society's Disposals feed, you've received a confirmation that the mailer has been sent, and match requests start arriving on the Interest Schedule within a few hours for in-demand properties.

💡 Common mistakes & pro tips

  • Listing quality drives match requests. Agents are more likely to send match requests to listings with complete data, photos, a clear summary, and key points.

  • Recirculate once per fortnight to refresh visibility.

  • Confidentiality matters. Tick landlord confidentiality if the owner doesn't want to be named on the society listing.
