How to edit a published disposal

Written by Max Kemplen

🎯 Goal

Update or recirculate a disposal you've already published to society, to refresh visibility, signal changes in availability, or reset interest when a listing has been live for a while.

❓ Why

Society feeds refresh fast, a listing that circulated three weeks ago has usually dropped from members' inboxes and feeds. Recirculating keeps your listing visible, especially when availability changes (floor returned, rent adjusted, specification updated). It also signals to members that the property is still genuinely live.

πŸ” Overview

Two types of edit after publication:

  • Silent updates β€” change availability, rent, photos, or details on the underlying disposal. These flow through to the society listing automatically, no mailer.

  • Recirculate β€” actively resend the mailer to members, with an updated subject line and message. Allowed once per fortnight.

πŸ“Š Step-by-step

Silent updates (most frequent)

Use the normal flow, changes auto-sync to the society listing, portals, and your website. No separate society action needed.

Recirculate to society

  1. Open the disposal β†’ Marketing tab β†’ Publish Options.

  2. Under Society, click Prepare Email & Recirculate.

  3. Kato shows the next available recirculation date (fortnightly cadence).

  4. Amend the mailer subject and body β€” call out what's changed or why you're refreshing.

  5. Confirm the society(s) to recirculate to.

  6. Click Circulate Now.

βœ… You've done it when…

Members receive the updated mailer, the listing shows as freshly circulated in the Society Disposals feed, and new match requests start to arrive.

πŸ’‘ Common mistakes & pro tips

  • Give members a reason. "Recirculating" with no context is noise. Say what's changed β€” new floor available, rent adjusted, fit-out completed β€” in the mailer subject and body.

  • Use the fortnight cadence sparingly. Members notice who overuses recirculation. Reserve it for meaningful updates or genuine refreshes.

  • Silent edits don't recirculate. If you want members notified of a change, you have to recirculate explicitly β€” just editing the disposal won't do it.
