Use Metrics settings to set organisation-wide measurement options and defaults.
Who can use metrics settings
Metrics settings are available to:
Organisation admins at agency-type organisations
Users with access to the Settings app
They are not available to:
Non-admin users
Landlord organisations
If a user without access opens the page directly, Kato redirects them to the home page.
When to use metrics settings
Use Metrics when you want to:
Control which measurement standards teams can use
Set default size, rent, and charge metrics
Standardise measurement defaults for new disposals and requirements
How metrics settings work
Metrics settings are split into two cards:
Card | What it controls |
Available Measurement Standards | Measurement standards available to your organisation |
Default Metric Settings | Default size, rent, and charge metrics |
Each card saves independently.
Items marked with * are Kato system defaults. You can still remove them if they are not relevant to your organisation.
Open metrics settings
Go to Settings.
Select Metrics.
Configure available measurement standards
Use Available Measurement Standards to control which measurement standards teams can use when:
Recording floor areas
Creating marketing materials
In the Available Measurement Standards card, select or clear standards.
Select Save changes.
You must keep at least one measurement standard selected.
Configure default metric settings
Use Default Metric Settings to set the default:
Size metric
Rent metric
Charge metric
These defaults apply to new disposals and requirements.
Teams can override these values at record level.
In the Default Metric Settings card, choose values from each dropdown.
Select Save changes.
Saving changes
Each card saves independently.
The Save changes button stays disabled until you make a change.
The Save changes button then disables again until another change is made.
What your changes affect
Metrics settings affect the defaults and measurement options available to users across your organisation.
Default Metric Settings apply to new disposals and requirements.
Teams can override metric defaults at record level.
Team-level settings can override organisation-level defaults where both exist.
