Use Disposal Options within your Org settings section to manage building types, use classes, and default interest schedule statuses for your organisation.
Who can use disposal options?
Disposal Options are only available to:
Organisation admins at agency-type organisations
Users with access to the Settings app
They are not available to:
Non-admin users
Landlord organisations
If a user without access opens the page directly, Kato redirects them to the home page.
When to use disposal options
Use Disposal Options when you want to:
Remove irrelevant building types from disposal workflows
Control which use classes your teams can apply
Set default interest schedule statuses for new matches, portal enquiries, and match requests
How disposal options work
Disposal Options are split into three cards:
Card | What it controls |
Available Building Types | Building types available to your organisation |
Available Use Classes | Use classes available to your organisation |
Interest Schedule Defaults | Default status for new matches, portal enquiries, and match requests |
Each card saves independently.
Items marked with * are Kato system defaults. You can still remove them if they are not relevant to your organisation.
Open disposal options
Go to Settings.
Select Disposal Options.
Configure available building types
In the Available Building Types card, search or browse the available options.
Select or clear building types as needed.
Select Save changes.
You must keep at least one building type selected.
Configure available use classes
In the Available Use Classes card, select or clear use classes.
Select Save changes.
You must keep at least one use class selected.
Configure interest schedule defaults
Use Interest Schedule Defaults to define the default status applied to:
New matches
Portal enquiries
Match requests
In the Interest Schedule Defaults card, choose a default value for each dropdown.
Select Save changes.
Saving changes
Each card saves independently.
The Save changes button stays disabled until you make a change.
After a successful save, Kato shows this confirmation:
Preferences updated successfully
The Save changes button then disables again until another change is made.
What your changes affect
Disposal Options affect the default options available to users across your organisation.
[NEEDS CONFIRMATION: Do Disposal Options changes apply to existing records, new records only, or both?]
Team-level settings can override organisation-level defaults where both exist.
